Going for a Walk & Talk

Today, more than ever, it's a challenge to slow down and be present in the moment. And yet, it's a critical part of focus. Join me  to exercise your leadership practice through mindfulness in nature.

Shinrin-Yoku or Forest Bathing

Forest Bathing is having a quiet walk in nature with your mind deliberately intent on, all senses keenly open to, every sound, scent, color and feel of the environment.
The goal is to bathe every physical cell and your entire psyche in the forest’s essence. It's known as a therapeutic technique to help lower stress levels, alleviate anxiety and depression, improve sleep and boost mood, creativity, energy and concentration.

Forest bathing emphasizes surrounding yourself in nature, and taking in the sensorial aspect of your surroundings. You do that by staying focused on the present, practicing mindfulness as you walk or meditate.

Yutori is another aspect of Shinrin-Yoku where you intentionally slow down to simply be, breathe, listen and appreciate the beauty of nature and life. The goal is to just walk and really notice through all your senses what you are experiencing. It's a way to get out of your heads and into your bodies by  consciously creating space to relax, reflect, and integrate rather than being constantly busy or rushed.

Now based in the mid-Hudson Valley, she has loved discovering the trails now that she has more time again to spend time in nature. By leading Sierra Club service trips and recreational trips, Caro is leveraging her leadership coaching in a way that advocates for environmental stewardship.
